For anyone interested in putting together a NAS at home...
www.freenas.orgI have been using NasLite up until about five days ago. NasLite is based on linux but costs $30. Works really well for just plugging everything in and getting it running fast. The biggest issue for me was that it was so closed down. You don't have much control over access control etc. FreeNAS is based on FreeBSD and gives you a ton of control. FreeNAS does software RAID as well, something NasLite does not. Anyway, I've got it up and running for the last few days and like it so far.
